MAME 0.104u3 source update...

This is a major one. It's 'weight' is 2.178.124 bytes and that affects almost EVERYTHING, from cpu cores to video hardware. Ah. Don't forget you will have to get the supplementary source of MAME32 in order to build the UI version. I'll only post here the 'highlights' of the what's new file:

0.104u3
-------

IMPORTANT CHANGE FOR OSD DEVELOPERS: osd_exit is no longer called
directly. Rather, your osd_init function should register the osd_exit
callback (if necessary) using add_exit_callback. Also, several global
variables have been moved into the Machine structure:

mame_debug -> Machine->debug_mode
playback -> Machine->playback_file
record -> Machine->record_file

MAME 0.104u2 source & Compiler tools released.

Here is another update of the main MAME core. This one is a milestone, since from this point on, MAME does not support Win95 and NT4 Operating Systems (where there any of you, running with these anyway?). This particular update has another point of interest too. You ought to download the latest compiler tools released on 10.02.2006 in order to compile without problems. I personally was able to compile with my previous MINGW set but, you never know... Here's what's new:

New games added or promoted from NOT_WORKING status
---------------------------------------------------
The Lost Castle In Darkmist [Tomasz Slanina, Nicola Salmoria]

New clones added
----------------
Super Glob (Pac-Man hardware) German [Chaneman, David Widel]
Burning Force (Japan old version) [Team Japump]

Don't forget to download the latest compiler tools. Get your downloads started from here. ;)

The new Member of our computer family.

I 've had several tasks to finish the last couple of weeks, but the most exciting one was to operate an old Clamshell iBook, that Vag (Greekroms) and I, have purchased from Ebay. This one came with a 3.25 Gb HDD which was good for nothing (OSX 10.3.2 took up 2.3 Gb to be installed). It also had a speaker problem (it wasn't working when I got it) which I had to fix.

It wasn't an easy task I must say, (you can read more about the required steps here) nevertheless I have completed the process with (only) a broken multi cord (the one that gives power to the touchpad) which is not so bad, once I had a spare mac mouse from my 800MHz QuickSilver handy ;). I will try and fix it soon though (a friend says it's not so difficult to fix).

After completing the whole thing I had to put the 10.4.4 OSX inside... This is nearly impossible on this machine for those who know something about macs. So before the operation, a program called CCC (Carbon Clone Copy) was used in order to copy the contents of the QS harddisk to an external 2.5" case that contained the 60Gb HDD which then I got into the iBook.

So, let me present you the Aqua iBook with it's new 60Gb HDD! sitting on my TWC cocktail top:

If you have any comments on this, or need any advice, please let me know!
