ClrMAME v.3.40

New ClrMAME just in time for 0.84? Who knows... I am posting the what's new file here:

3.40 28-Jun-2004

- XML support readded
- xerces-c_2_5_0.dll is now needed and included in the current package.
- MAME, PINMAME and MESS engines use -listxml now.
- 'engine.cfg' has to be replaced with the one in this package.
- added enginetype OLD_MAME for MAME versions without -listxml.
- removed some entries from engine.cfg

A new engine.cfg will show you prompts for each and any profile which was created/loaded with the old engine.cfg.

Little PinMAME (1.32.001) issue:
Current PinMAME got a '&' character in one romname, causing xml importing to fail since it has to be coded as '&'. This should be fixed with the next PinMAME version. If you still want to use ClrMamePro with current PINMAME, you have to change engine.cfg's PINMAME entry back to "command -listinfo".

The new version is available for download here.

France Vs Greece: 0 -1

It's TRULY UNBELIEVABLE! This night the whole Greece is living in a dream! Everybody is yelling at the streets and dancing! Who could ever expect this small team to make it to the final four of Euro2004 leaving behind such a great team like France!!!

To our team:

We don't care what happens next! You guys are heroes and winners to us anyway! KEEP IT GOING!

GOOD LUCK GREECE!!!

HP38/39/40/48/49 Emulator

Not arcade emulation related but as you all know we are running in idle mode after some block pissed off Haze... Anyway; this program emulates several famous HP scientific calcs. Read here:

The HP48 Emulator Emu48 was originally created by Sébastien Carlier and is published under the GPL. The latest version of Emu48 can emulate a HP38G, HP39G, HP40G, HP48SX, HP48GX and a HP49G. The emulator is running on all Win32 platforms. Emu48 needs a ROM image to work. Because of license reasons ROM's aren't included, but they can be downloaded on several other sites. The official Emu48 V1.10 corresponds to my Service Pack 10.

The official webpage is located here. Go fetch if you're interested.

Euro2004 and France Vs Greece

I must state that I am NOT a football fan (I remember me watching a football game once before 20 years or something). Greek football on the other hand sucked bigtime for over... let's say 50 years (or more)... BUT, this is unbelievable, and I mean REALLY unbelievable. Greece has finally made it to the 8 best teams of Euro2004! Tomorrow (Friday, 25 June) we are facing France, one of the best teams in the world... I don't really hope of anything... I just dream... and wish...

GOOD LUCK GREECE!!!

WhineCube 3 released

After the Dreamcast how about emulating Gamecube eh? Well, not exactly what I'd call complete emulation but the beginning is half of everything. Here's what's new:

  • Texture dumping.
  • ELF loading.
  • Improved handling of unimplemented opcodes.

If you are into testing, please take your pick over here.

Chanka News

Hmm, talking about DC, the Chanka emulator has a Wip update:

- FullScreen implemented
- Windows 2000 compatibility
- Naomi's Virtua Striker working

Virtua Striker screenshots anyone? Check here!

Chanka 0.2 released

The program that emulates nearly perfect the almighty Dreamcast has reached version 0.2. Here's what's new:

Chankast v0.2 Alpha

 - Improved stability, no more random crashes during gameplay
  - Fixes to the GFX core for games such as Shenmue 1&2 and Soul Calibur
 - Better compatibility, for example F355, Dead or Alive 2, Virtual On and many, many more
 - Optimized code for even more speed
 - Option to over- and underclock the SH4 CPU
 - Completly re-done PAD configuration screen
 - Added support for PAD plugins
 - Added an option for cable selection
 - Integrated Capcom hack into the other versions
 - Re-worked menu and help file
 - ... and many more fixes we don't really remember ;)

There's an option to donate some money over at the official webpage, in order to 'grant' these people some more courage to continue developing Chanka, which is a thing I highly recommend. Your choice of course...

European Election day

Election day today here in Greece for the European Community council of choice. Let's see what happens ;)

MAME 0.83 "Happy Holidays Haze"

Early morning update folks and you're not gonna like it. Official MAME source and binaries were updated once Haze has decided to leave his computer, together with us all for two months...:( We have predicted this situation some days ago (roll down and read "bug and you lose" section) and have stated from this page that the worst enemy of emulation is greedy people asking from someone who offers MANY things for free, even more... Directly from Haze's page:

"I've decided to take a break. Should be back to normal updates in around 2 months, hopefully things will have calmed down and be more enjoyable by then

This decision was made simply because my interest in emulation is rather low at the moment.

Please do not mail me during this period. I should still be around on the boards if you really need to contact me."

Anyway. We wish Haze happy holidays and hope that the people who did this got their lesson by now. The worst thing is that the stupidity of a few, hurts us all...:(

Knoppel 0.4

Our bootable linux cd of choice has been updated to version 0.4. Nikos has made the update at 24/05/2004 but more mirrors around the globe are now able to help you download the 650mb ISO file. Click here to read what's new and find a fast mirror to download it.

Presents! Presents!

I have placed online some pretty useful stuff for all you CHD hunters out there. Check for youselves here.

Raine 0.42.2

Raine has been updated once more reaching now version 0.42.2. The emulator is available for download here.

Heaven's gate WIP

Haze and R Belmond reported some progress on a very beautiful arcade game. Check for yourselves here and here.

Bug and you lose

I believe this has to be posted as read from Haze's website:

"...Please stop mailing me about Dreamcast / Atomiswave / Naomi emulation

We are not interested in supporting it at this time. We will not be porting the DC emu to Mame, DC based arcade hardware is still very much an active platform and we are not interested in emulating it

If this is all you're interested in then go away and stop bothering me, If you want to play the next Metal Slug / Kof / Guilty Gear / whatever then go and find an Arcade to play them in. I'd rather not have to remove my mail address from the page.

In other news, here are some shots of a recent addition..."

We have witnessed in the -not so recent- past of actions of people bugging the emulation programmers about the latest PSX/DC/ emulator beta in order to play the 'X' game. More, they CRITISISE their effort (ie: your emu suxx once it doesn't play 'X' game, you looser you).

I will have to state here two things:

1. You don't pay a dime for it.
2. You must understand that programmers ARE HUMANS TOO! They NEED to spend sometime with their beloved persons, wife/kid/whatever.

So, If you don't like an emulator please stay aside and don't get involved!  For Heaven's name don't bug the people that brought the emulator to life, nor critisise them! Please keep in mind that it's not your world alone! Some other people may like the emulator in it's current form.

Ah, and don't forget to flush before you leave. Kthx, bye.
