Happy 2005!

After the tsunami disaster at the Sumatra region and over 130,000 dead people, the best I could wish is for a better year to come. Let's all hope everything will draw better for everyone out there. Our hearts to those who have missing persons. Let's hope they are ok and will return home safe.

Greetings everyone. Happy new year.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

I wish everybody love and prosperity. Let peace rule the world and may the Christmas carol bring all people together. Our best wishes to people who suffer from the hell of war. Let's all promise to ourselves this: Make a better world for the kids all over the globe... And make sure we keep it... (Do you read this George...?!?)

Merry Christmas everybody!

WinUAE Final beta before 1.0

WinUAE is a free Amiga Hardware Emulator and according to many it's the best out there! This version makes another step towards perfection:

Bug fixes:

- Regular HDF TD_GEOMETRY returned incorrect data. (caused some
larger HDF's fail to mount, 0.9.91 only)
- Filesystem bug fix (0.9.90-91), files with Windows
System or Hidden -flag set didn't open properly in all cases.
- Stardust starwars-scroller in cycle-exact mode.
- SuperStardust AGA tunnel-section and Superfrog intro bee flashing
plus other sprite emulation fixes.
- Random disk formatting verify errors when using non-turbo mode
(was broken couple of releases ago)
- Display corruption/crashes if display width was larger than 1024
and display depth was 32bit (only native display mode, Picasso96
was unaffected)
- Windowed mode window close button didn't work if "Use CTRL+F11
to quit" was enabled
- input-panel autofire yes/no-selection
- AVIOutput video recording bug in interlaced modes

New features:

- Filesystem emulation now uses NTFS named streams to store Amiga
FS protection flags and comment instead of __UAEFSDB.__-files.
(non-NTFS drives still use old method)
- Postscript printer emulation using Ghostscript. All Windows
supported printers work now. Amiga-side only needs standard Amiga
Postscript printer driver.
- Automatic print job flush after user configurable timeout.
- Improved hardfile creation, filesystem selection (OFS/FFS/SFS) etc..
- Disk swapper key shortcuts.
END+1-0 (not numeric keypad) = insert image from swapper slot 1-10
END+SHIFT+1-0 = insert image from swapper slot 11-20
END+CTRL+1-4 = select drive
- GUI drag'n'drop. (no more ugly up/down arrows)
- screenshots are now named _xxx.bmp
- user configurable emulation speed adjustment from 5 to 100 fps
- rar and 7zip -archive support (using archiveaccess.dll)
- some custom chipset emulation improvements here and there.
- improved drive click sound emulation
- X-Arcade build-in key mappings
- onscreen disk and HD leds flash red while writing
- "Always on top"-windowed mode setting

and more..

Source and binaries available here. Thanks to Maddog for the news.

Raine 0.42.3 "last 0.42 version" released

Raine site has got another update: C'n'P from official webpage:

- Fixed toki sound (ym3812)
- Improved priority bitmap emulation (faster and more precise) for cps2 and for the cave driver. It obliged me to rewrite most of the line scroll code and a part of the zooming functions, but I don't think it added any new bugs ! You'll see differences in the attract mode of csclub, dfeveron, feversos and in the ending screens of ddonpach.
- Added rom region switches for mshh and mpangj (translated), and vhunt2r1 and vsav2 (only partially translated, but the service mode is translated at least). I don't think any other cps2 game needs a rom region switch.
- Added a speed hack for mpangj
- Fix bad color palette for snapshots in the gui in 16bpp sometimes
- Added new cheat codes for armwaru, cybotsu, mshh, and vhunt2 from the Pugsy's and the Ultimate patchers cheats databases. By the way Pugsy's cheats helped me a lot to find the rom region switch locations in rom.

Download it (again) from here.

MAME 0.89u3 source update

More Sega fixes!

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Progressive Music Trivia [Pierpaolo Prazzoli]
Trivia Master [Pierpaolo Prazzoli]
Racing Hero [Gerald, David Haywood]

(AB Cop and SMGP are also now 'working' but still have some fairly serious issues)

Clones
------
Blood Brothers (set 2)
E-swat (Japan) [Thierry]

New Non-working
---------------

Line of Fire (Japan) [Charles Macdonald, bmoto]
no controls, xboard emulation problems

The source update is available here.

Raine 0.42.2 "the end of cps2" released

Directly from the official webpage:

I had more free time than what I expected this week-end, so I decided to use it to test and to finish this cps2 emulation, so it was a good thing at least for raine !
xmvsf neeeded a priority bitmap at least, and csclub had a projector effect in the attract mode which was a real performance killer. So I added some code to detect when the priority bitmap is needed, and use it to emulate this projector effect when it's needed. I tested the whole thing at 650 Mhz only to be sure it was fast enough : I always have at least 35% free cpu time, so I guess it should be OK for most people out there...
Except this big priorities issue :

- added the few missing cps2 games : armwaru, mshh, cybotus, and vhunt2r1.
- Fixed the annoying corrupted colors of the gui sometimes after loading specific games.

Download it from here.

MAME 0.89u2 source update

A couple of days late, but I was busy doing other things. This one keeps up with the Sega fixes/improvements, but Aaron is the man at this time!

New Games / Clones supported or promoted from GAME_NOT_WORKING status:
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Poker Dice [Aaron Giles]

Clones
------
Lucky and Wild (Japan) [BUT]
Steel Gunner (Japan) [BUT]
Metal Hawk (Japan) [BUT]
Ordyne (Japan, English) [Chris Hardy]
Scorpion (Zaccaraia Original) [Pierpaolo Prazzoli]
Hunchback Olympics (Scramble hardware) [Pierpaolo Prazzoli]
Arabian Fight (Japan) [Brian Troha]
