MAME 0.91u1 source update

Aaron has submitted a hell of a lot of changes, so Haze has released another update reaching version 0.91u1, just a day after the official 0.91 release. Get the new source update from Haze's place. By the way, his new blog is hosted here, so update your bookmarks.

Cut 'n' pasting from 'what's new' file:

ClrMAME 3.61 is out

Provided that several things have been altered on the latest releases the rom-manager of choice, for most of us around here, has been updated too. Here's the change log:

3.61 (28-Jan-2005)
==================

mainly merging 3.60a-d

removed: quick scanner "problem in bios" scan...since the biosset itself is shown in a more
detailed view anyway later in the scan and the tree doesn't update when the problem
gets fixed in the current scan
fixed: crc32/size tables weren't refreshed everytime causing the rebuilder to fail sometimes

added: profiler datfile rename (popupmenu or singleclick label). This changes the description
tag in the datfile header (or adds one) NOT the filename.
added: list to tree drag'n drop of datfiles to move them. Well...Tree doesn't expand or scroll
automatically yet but I guess you'll enjoy it anyway.
misc: cleaned up several control events handlers
misc: you can't remove the datfolder root anymore
misc: you can't move datfiles to the same folder anymore
misc: don't list problems in biossets as "missing"
misc: current profile is saved on entering profiler, leaving scanner/settings/rebuilder/merger
misc: delete/load/view buttons/popupmenu items only selectable when there is something to do

fixed: some profiler list index problems caused by some auto-sorting listctrl feature *sigh*

Download from here.

This update will make a lot of Metal Slug fans happy, once the 4th edition has been added to the playable list. You will need to find some alteration/ fixes in order to have the proper set, but I am confident that you will finally manage to do so ;)

ClrMAME 3.55 is out

This is old news, but I have found out about it just yesterday, in order to build a proper 0.90u4 set. Here's the change log:

3.55 (16-Jan-2005)
==================

added: setinfo->database tree (with autorefresh on crcsearch, setselect etc.)
added: setinfo->crc32 search in database
added: dir2dat->category
added: scanner popupmenu function 'delete all listed [not fixed] sets'

fixed: delete->all incomplete sets didn't work for some people
fixed: rebuilder backup sometimes backup'ed the wrong files
fixed: rebuilder rebuilt didn't rebuilt all files
(equal names on various setsubfolder levels only)

misc: optimized the way the crc32 list gets refreshed
misc: (auto)savefixdat doesn't ask for a filename anymore if nothing can be
found to put in the dat.
misc: fixdatfileheader's suggestion is used for filename suggestion as well
misc: changed fixdatfileheader's ask-for-header window a bit
misc: progresswindow is now horizontally resizeable
misc: better cancel-check when dir2dats scans zips
misc: scanner all button toggles all/none now

Head over here for the latest binary.

A fix version this one, not a 'bunch of new games supported', but still has it's way to keep us busy! The source file is at Haze's page.

MAME 0.90 "Sega Madness" is out!

ALL Sega changes put together in one package! Yes sir! MAME 0.90 official release is out. Haze states that a new compiler set is used to build this version, but according to what's is posted at his page after updating and trying to compile with the new compiler too many warnings will occur... On the other hand, if you use the old compiler set the program will compile without a problem. :| I guess the new set will be used into future versions (?)...

Anyway, here's what's new:

0.90
------

General Improvements

Fixed sound in Desert Breaker with new roms [Aaron Giles, Gerald, Thierry]
Fixed dip-switches to nmk16 driver [Brian Troha]

New Discrete Sound Functionality [Derrick Renaud, Frank Palazzolo]
DISCRETE_OP_AMP_FILTER - properly emulated DISC_OP_AMP_FILTER_IS_BAND_PASS_1M type filter. Used by many games.

 * atafifb, abaseb - Re-wrote to use component value only code and use new filter.

Fixed crash in i8x41 cpu core reading uninitialized internal RAM [Juergen Buchmueller]

Super Qix driver update [Nicola Salmoria]
 - manually repaired the ROM code and added support for the I8751 MCU,
so the two original sets work.
 - swapped sqix and sqixa, because the the former was dumped from a bootleg board
(though there's no reason to believe the ROMs were modified, so I didn't mark it as bootleg)
 - merged with pbillian
 - fixed pbillian/hotsmash sample playback
 - fixed pbillian MCU simulation and inputs
 - improved hotsmash MCU simulation, the game is playable now though still incomplete.

Bubble Bobble driver update [Nicola Salmoria]

 - simulated the 68701 MCU
 - enemy movement should now be correct (bublbobl36rc2yel)
 - fixed clock item behaviour. Now enemies start moving again after 10 seconds (bublbobl36b3yel)
 - supported coin lockout
 - emulated the boblbobl protection device, getting rid of the ROM patches.
 - adjusted PSG volume in tokio (tokiob067gre)

Fixes the undocumented bit test opcodes in hd6309 cpu core [Nathan Woods]

 - Fixed algorithm for identifying 32-bit segments
 - Near branches now won't force a segment reload
 - Implemented RET imm16 under 16-bit mode

improved the "illegal" DMA operations and started to work out with the games headers.

Fixed a disassembler bug with the Nec cpu core [Angelo Salese]
