Bad news... MAME 0.99u4 removed!

Aaron has posted the following message:

August 28, 2005

MAME 0.99u4 removal

I have removed the 0.99u4 update due to a request from Arika. The next update (u5) will be a diff from 0.99u3. If you already patched your source to u4, you will need to either reverse the patch (patch -R <099u4.diff) before applying u5, or else start from scratch with the 0.99 sources and reapply the patches from there.

Posted by Aaron at 10:28 AM

That's because Arika has sent an email to him regarding the support of their 2000 game TGM2. Sorry mates, t' was good while it lasted... :(

MAME 0.99u2

Yeps! The gambling games are back! This is a significant update and I'd advise you to rush in order to get updated A.S.A.P. Here's what's new:

0.99u2
------

Prior versions of MAME have excluded some drivers (primarily gambling-
related) for philosophical reasons. Since these games are legitimately at
risk of being lost to the ages, and many of them have strong similarities
to the other sorts of games MAME emulates, it has been decided to allow their
inclusion going forward. The criteria for inclusion in MAME is now simply
"any primarily video based arcade machine, driven by one of more CPUs," and
should relieve any confusion surrounding this issue going forward.

Official MAME / MAME32 0.99!

We've been expecting this about a day later, but it's always welcome! Combining all the latest u's together here goes the official 0.99 release. There's an info line there about the upcoming release... Let's see what's new in this one:

0.99
----

Note that the next version of MAME will be 0.100. If you have code that
depends on there being only two digits after the decimal, you had better fix
it before then!

Source Changes
--------------
Fixed 1-bit errors in decryption keys for Crackdown and one of the D.D. Crew
sets. [Nicola Salmoria, Chris Hardy]

Hooked up NVRAM for World Class Bowling 1.40. [Brian Troha]
Backed out some of the Arm core changes which broke several games.
Fixed the f1superb sound rom loading in ms32.c so that it doesn't crash.
[David Haywood]
Fixed a graphics glitch in Osman. [David Haywood]

Updated the Taito Z driver: [Nicola Salmoria]
- fixed road/sprite priority (cars no longer disappear when they go over a
hill in Continental Circus)
- removed bogus contcirc ROM containing 1989 copyright year
- added PROMs
- other minor changes

You can download the official binaries & new sources from here, while the MAME32 version is available from here.

ClrMAME Pro 3.71c!

I haven't been updated this for a long time now, so I went over clrMAME Pro's webpage to see that there are a ton of changes since my last update. I strongly advise you to update as well, while without this little monster you would have to update each rom update one by one with your hands (ouch!). So, click here to go to the download page.
